how to take this medication
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Shake this medicine well before use. Avoid spraying in the eyes. Be sure to throw away this medicine after the recommended number of sprays because the medicine may not be as effective. Read and follow patient instructions provided with this medicine. Usual dosage for adults and children is 2 sprays per nostril per day. Effects of this medicine are not immediate and depend on regular daily use; benefit usually occurs in a week. Clear nasal passages prior to use by blowing nose. If nasal passages are blocked, use a topical decongestant spray to ensure penetration of the spray. Do not use topical spray longer than 3 consecutive days. This medicine may be used alone, or with a systemic antihistamine or decongestant. Contact your doctor if sores or injuries occur in the nasal passages(eg, nasal surgery, frequent nosebleed). This medicine may prevent or slow proper healing. Infection of the nose and throat has been linked with long-term use. Such infection may require stopping this medicine to allow healing. If symptoms do not improve within 3 weeks or worsen, contact your health care provider. After the desired effect is obtained, reduce the maintenance dose to the smallest amount necessary to control the symptoms. Avoid exposure to chickenpox, measles, or other infections; if exposed, contact your health care provider at once. Do not continue therapy beyond 3 weeks if there is no improvement. Report any unusual fever, muscle or joint pain, weakness, hives, sneezing, nasal irritation, depression, or fluid retention to your health care provider. Exams may be necessary while taking this medicine. Be sure to keep appointments.
